“Between Two Fires” is episode nine of season five of Stargate SG-1.
The Tollan, Omac, who was first met in “Enigma”, has died. SG-1 attend the funeral, as they are some of the few people that Omac actually respected. The Tollans may be reconsidering their policy on technological transfer between them and Earth, something they had refused to do after an unfortunate incident in their past – which resulted in their homeworld becoming uninhabitable and the civilisation they gave the technology to being destroyed.
Something else is going on, though. Narim slips Carter a message, saying that Omac believed that Earth was in great danger, and that Narim doesn’t know who to trust.
The Tollan apparently need trinium, and want Earth to provide it, in exchange for an ion cannon – a powerful defensive weapon they have repeatedly refused to trade for anything in the past and the weapon that has kept the Goa’uld from attacking their world. There is still more going on beneath the surface though.
Could this be the first mention of Anubis? If so, Apophis was definitely, finally and permanently killed in “Enemies”. I’d say, I’d like to see the body, but country-sized explosions don’t tend to leave one.
