“The Killing Game, Part II” is episode nineteen of season four of Star Trek: Voyager.
In the previous episode, “The Killing Game”, Captain Janeway and Seven of Nine had both been released from the Hirogen’s neural interfaces and a big hole had been blown inside the ship. They both leave the holodeck and head to astrometrics to locate the Hirogen. Harry is on the bridge and they need to disable the neural interfaces in sickbay. There’s only one Hirogen with the Doctor, but more outside. The captain says they need help and Seven points out they have allies in the World War II sim.
Harry is briefing the Alpha about the damage and holographic soldiers rampaging through the ship. The only way to stop them is for Harry to head to engineering and blow out the holo transmitters. The Alpha doesn’t want to destroy the holodecks; it’s more important to preserve the technology than prevent death. The Alpha is briefed about the current situation by the younger Hirogen, who needs help. The Alpha wants Janeway, alive. The younger one says that this is the real hunt and they should kill the prey. The Alpha wants the crew to stay alive to repair Voyager.
Tuvok, Tom, Chakotay and B’Elanna think that the hole in the ship is a secret Nazi compound where advanced weapons are being made. Chakotay needs more troops to invade and wants the Resistance to lie low, because they are not soldiers. Tuvok agrees and that B’Elanna will tell the soldiers where they have hidden weapons throughout the city. Tom will speak to her about the locations; she was the girl he met in France before the war. In the simulation, anyway.
The captain and Seven of Nine return to the holodeck restaurant through a Jefferies tube. Yes, it’s some kind of escape tunnel. The captain says they have just come from the ‘bunker’ and confirms Chakotay’s belief that it’s a weapons lab. Chakotay wants to call in an air strike but the captain talks him out of it because of the weapons stored inside. She has a man inside already. Chakotay wants to go with and he won’t take no for an answer. Tuvok is still concerned that Seven of Nine might be a German collaborator but the captain reassures him.
The Doctor is in sickbay when a wounded Hirogen is brought in. The Hirogen medic wants to work on the other Hirogen, despite the humans present having worse injuries. He deactivates the Doctor and says to the other Hirogen that they will tend to their own, not the prey. Another Hirogen who seems less than happy with the Alpha’s plans.
Harry is confronted by a holographic German soldier who is then shot by Tom. Who doesn’t recognise Harry and asks if Harry speaks English. Yes, he does. And if he’s American. Yes, he is. Why is he out of uniform? Harry is a civilian. In a battle zone in France? Tom wants Harry to prove he’s American by asking a question about Betty Grable any American man would know. If they weren’t from several centuries in the future. Fortunately, Harry remembers.
Chakotay and the captain are going to enter some caves to meet her contact and Janeway warns him that some eccentric people live there. Klingons, and Neelix, who thinks he’s a Klingon. Janeway warns Chakotay to steer clear of the booze then goes and activates the Doctor. She needs to deactivate the neural interfaces. The equipment is in sickbay. The captain has holographic explosives; with the safety protocols off, they’re as good as the real thing.
There’s a World War II battle enveloping much of the interior of Voyager, which is making rather a mess of the place. The Alpha has some specific goals he wants, but it looks like at least some of the other Hirogen don’t agree with them. That’s going to cause problems.
