“Storm Front, Part II” is episode two of season four of Star Trek: Enterprise.
The opener is a newsreel about Hitler visiting New York.
In the White House, the German general is telling Vosk that the Americans will counter attack in days. He also has an intelligence briefing; the squadron performed flawlessly. Vosk says the general has been spying on them. But he supposed he would have done the same. The general wants the squadron deployed but Vosk claims it isn’t ready. The general thinks Vosk isn’t living up to his side of the agreement and won’t get additional supplies; Vosk asks he imagine what might happen if Vosk’s weapons fell into the hands of the Allies. He may fight to control nations; Vosk’s people dominate entire worlds and stretch their will across time. He could erase the general from history.
In the previous episode, “Storm Front”, Alicia was beamed to Enterprise with Captain Archer. He enters the quarters she’s staying in and asks about the woman in the picture; the captain explains she was killed in battle. Alicia asks if there’s still war in the future. On Earth, between humans, no. But the galaxy is a big place with thousands of species. The captain offers to send Alicia anywhere on Earth. She wants to go home to her neighbourhood; she won’t turn her back on people in trouble. But Archer knew she was going to say that, didn’t he? Archer explains that Travis and Trip are missing. Maybe in hiding, maybe taken prisoner, maybe dead. Alicia can put the word out. She says Enterprise could wipe Berlin off the map and kill every last German. Archer is going to stop this, but not that way. And they’ll need to use the transporter again.
Kraul, and Vosk, have decided that Trip and Travis are not temporal agents; their technology is too primitive. A test is done on Vosk’s machine; it doesn’t work. He doesn’t intend to give the Germans weapons that might be used against them. Vosk orders Travis and Trip be taken back to their cell and given medical attention. In the cell, though, Silik drops from the ceiling and lands on Trip.
On Enterprise, Reed is telling the captain and T’Pol when he thinks the trimline changed. In 1916, when Lenin was assassinated. T’Pol says that Vosk only arrived on Earth recently; they think that perhaps another faction was responsible for the assassination. Hoshi contacts them from the bridge; there’s a transmission from Vosk.
Vosk says the captain’s voice is familiar; have they met? He believes he has two men and would like to discuss it face to face. No, he doesn’t want to come aboard Enterprise. A remote location outside the city. He’ll send the coordinates.
The captain beams down with two MACOs. Trip and Travis are pleased to see the captain alive. Vosk apologises for their aggressive questioning. The captain has them beamed up. Vosk wants to discuss time travel. What does the captain know about him? Vosk says that temporal agents are a tyrannical sect that manipulate the timeline to their own ends. Vosk does too, but he doesn’t try to hide it. He says time travel can be used to improve civilisations. Vosk offers to send the captain back to his own century. As for it not existing, once Vosk defeats the temporal agents, he will restore it. But he’s limited by 20th century technology and the resources of Enterprise would make things run faster.
In sickbay, Travis and Trip are being examined by Phlox, who hands the captain a PADD then goes to the communicator as the captain is talking to them. Travis thinks Vosk is building a time machine; the captain tells him he’s right. Trip ends up going for the captain and out of sickbay; his abilities show he isn’t Trip and he turns into Silik when the MACOs Phlox sent for stun him.
Vosk is getting close to finishing his machine, which will apparently kickstart the whole temporal war. He needs stopping so that Enterprise has a home it can return to. The captain will need to break into the facility to drop its energy shield so Enterprise can destroy it.
