“The Way of the Warrior: Part 1” is episode one of season four of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
This episode opens with DS9’s crew hunting for a Changeling on board the station. This is actually a drill; the Changeling is Odo.
The flagship of the Klingon fleet arrives at DS9, and it’s got company – an entire Klingon taskforce. What they are doing there is not known, as the reasons given don’t seem to be truthful. They are, however, aggressively stopping and searching ships, and the general in charge begins every meeting by checking to see if those attending have been replaced. For some reason, Garak falls afoul of the Klingons, too.
Captain Sisko – sporting a new shaved head – decides that to understand what the Klingons are doing, he needs help. This help is Lieutenant Commander Worf, who is currently between assignments (the episode is after the film Generations).
The theme music has had a slight change, and so have the credits. The Defiant is now in them for one thing, as are a host of other ships.
The story continues in the next episode, “The Way of the Warrior: Part 2”.
