“Paradise” is episode fifteen of season two of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Chief O’Brien and Commander Sisko are in a runabout looking for habitable planets when they come across one – although it’s already occupied, and by humans. There’s an odd energy field on the planet, too.
When they beam down, they find that none of their technology works. The inhabitants were on a journey to colonise another planet when they had to stop due to life support problems. Once down, they were unable to leave, and they’ve been there for ten years.
Sisko and O’Brien are stuck on the planet, even though the runabout is in orbit, until help comes. However, unknown to them, the runabout is no longer in orbit. A Vulcan ship told DS9 that it had been seen, empty, and at warp speed.
Kira and Dax go after the runabout, and Sisko starts to realise that the colony’s leader is not all she seems.
