“If Wishes Were Horses” is episode sixteen of season one of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
O’Brien finishes telling his daughter the story of Rumplestiltskin, but when he leaves the room, she says that the evil dwarf has appeared. O’Brien thinks it’s just her imagination – until he sees him too.
This is only the first to appear. A baseball legend Jake was playing against in the holosuite leaves it with him, and Doctor Bashir has another, rather more infatuated, version of Dax following him around. Awkward.
Others aboard the station are also seeing their fantasies come to life, which is causing quite a bit of disruption. That’s not the only problem. There’s a strange reading near to the station that seems to be developing into a subspace rift. The only similar one to appear destroyed an entire system.
