“Battle Lines” is episode thirteen of season one of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
The Bajoran religious leader, Kai Opaka, visits the station, which is a bit of a first. Sisko had promised to give her a tour when he met her. As there is no ship scheduled to be going through the wormhole, Sisko offers to take her through in a runabout, along with Doctor Bashir and Major Kira.
On the other side of the wormhole, the runabout detects a signal. When they follow it up, it leads them to a moon with a ring of satellites around it. One of the satellites shoot at them, and the runabout crashes. The Kai is killed in the crash. Kira is very upset.
There are two groups of people on the moon who are fighting each other. After a battle in which quite a number of them are killed, something strange happens. The dead come back to life – not as zombies – as they are restored to a living state. And so is Kai Opaka.
DS9, meanwhile, is looking for them, as the Bajorans are a little upset about the loss of Kai Opaka.
