Sliders – Revelations

“Revelations” is episode twenty-two of season four of Sliders and the season finale.

The Sliders exit the vortex, followed by a giant arm and a voice bellowing for Maggie. It seems they’d been to a land of giants and one had taken a shine to her. They are on this world for 624 hours – 26 days.

With ten days left, Quinn and Colin are working on a car and speculating as to why a man who fills up with fuel is in a hurry. Maggie is then dropped off by another car; she was working as a waitress and isn’t working at that place any more. By the sounds of it, someone grabbed her and regretted it. She misses the Kromaggs because they were at least not boring.

Rembrandt has got some old books to pass the time, rather than watch reruns of Chuck Norris in Touched by a Ranger. One of them is science fiction, about some kind of interdimensional travel where the protagonists are using it to escape the Kormaggs. It’s by Isaac Clark and it mentions a biological weapon like the one they heard of in the Slidecage. Not only is Kormagg and anagram of Kromagg, there’s a colour plate in the book that depicts what appear to be Kromaggs.

Quinn has discovered that Isaac Clark keeps himself private but there are three people that he has contact with. They need to buy a modem to hack the phone records, though, which means that Maggie and Colin need to contribute the money they’d planned to use on a vacation.

Rembrandt is continuing reading the book; Kormagg women can’t have children either. Either Clark is from Quinn’s world or he’s following him around. They have the same number called by all three people, at the same time of day, though it never calls them. The number is a payphone.

They head to the phone to watch it and see a young woman drive to it and answer it when it rings. They follow her back to her house and knock on the door, asking about Isaac Clark She claims no-one by that name lives there. Quinn says they are interdimensional travellers like the ones in Clark’s novel. Clark comes out and invites them in.

The Sliders explain about the Kromaggs and how they were defeated and that Rembrandt wants to take the weapon used back to his home world to drive the Kromaggs out. Clark’s daughter, Catherine, clearly thinks they are nuts. Her father makes his stories up. Then Clark says that everything the Sliders said is true. He knew it the moment he heard Quinn’s name, Mallory. Clark knew his parents.

The Mallorys developed Sliding and made it available to anyone who wanted to get away from the Kromaggs. The government assembled a team of their best people and put them under pressure to end the war. Both the Mallorys and Clark were on it. The developed the weapon. Rembrandt asks why Clark is here, if his world is at peace now. Because Clark so much death and destruction and caused much of it. He wanted no more and slid here. He had no taste for his original line of work and eventually started making science fact into science fiction. Catherine is upset she wasn’t told the truth and leaves; Colin follows and talks to her.

Clark has the last missing pieces to get them all back home. Catherine wants to come with as her father is all the family she has. So, it seems like they are finally getting to Quinn and Colin’s homeworld. Everything is going well. Until it isn’t.
