“For King and Country” is episode eight of season three of Sanctuary.
In the previous episode, “Breach”, an assailant tried to find out something that he believed Magnus knew about Hollow Earth (and kill her), and the city whose hologram was discovered from the message Magnus’ father left in “Firewall”. Although Magnus and Tesla had found out about Hollow Earth in “Animus”, her assailant actually knew more than she did.
The assailant, Adam Worth (played by Ian Tracey, who played Jason in Continuum) – he has two personalities, the more violent of which prefers the name given to him in a story, Hyde (the real life Adam Worth on which this character is loosely based was actually the inspiration for Professor Moriarty from Sherlock Holmes) – bears a grudge against Magnus killing him (which would appear not to have taken) a century previously. The Hyde side seems to bear more of a grudge. Adam says he has been to the city, and that Magnus’ father could have been executed for the message he sent via Will in “Kali: Part III”.
Worth has now been captured and it opens with Magnus and Will rushing him into the Sanctuary – Adam needs surgery following Magnus’ take down of him. Tesla recognises Worth too. Will asks Magnus to tell him who Worth is, and she, Tesla and Worth recount how, when she and the others were at Oxford experimenting on the source blood, the Five very nearly became the Six, and other matters at that time.
Worth is dying, but he should have died a long time ago even if he survived Magnus’ attempt to kill him. It seems that Druitt saved him. In “Haunted”, it was discovered that Druitt had become host to an energy being that hitched a ride when he teleported. The being was what caused him to kill and wound up being released from him, but Druitt had to take it back inside him to protect the others, and hasn’t been seen since. Druitt had approached Tesla for help with the energy elemental, but this had failed. Tesla does know where Druitt is though.
Henry has collected the pieces of technology which Worth was using to teleport and speed up time. Did Adam, admittedly a genius, create it himself, or did he steal it? Tesla is feeling rather humbled by the technology he has come across and, as he says, he doesn’t do humble well. The teleporting is what seems to be killing Adam though.
