“You Are Not It” is episode seven of season one of Powers.
At the end of the previous episode, “The Raconteur of the Funeral Circuit”, ‘Big Bad’ Wolfe went on television asking to be permanently drained so that the world can finally be safe from him.
Johnny Royalle wants to talk to Wolfe for humanitarian reasons, claiming that the Drainer that Wolfe is being kept under is harmful. Walker wants to go and see Wolfe himself, supposedly to find out what Royalle is really up to. However, Walker’s boss, Commander Cross, doesn’t want anyone talking to Wolfe – including Walker. And Walker’s reasons may not be entirely what he says. Nor, for that matter, is Wolfe’s. Now he’s in the Drainer, and not being regularly lobotomised, he permanently has his intelligence back, and he can think again.
Pilgrim, doing some actual police work, has managed to dig up Calista’s actual background. Although this doesn’t seem to be immediately useful. Powers Division has finally got their own functioning Drainer, which is already seeing use. Cross and Triphammer revealed in the previous episode that the Drainer was built for a different reason to the one stated.
Retro Girl’s agents want her to work with Zora; she has a talk with the latter about what really happened in the shaft. Zora hadn’t actually intended to claim credit for defeating Wolfe.
Royalle is concerned about Walker taking Sway, and worries that he will be able to drain the powers of other Powers. It seems that Walker didn’t actually get his own powers back; he was able to get Wolfe’s ability to absorb those of others. When Walker and Pilgrim turn up with a search warrant looking for Sway, Simons panics, with possibly unfortunate side effects.
Calista and Crispin have fallen out, because of the latter’s involvement with Chaotic Chick and what he really wants from Kaotic Chic. Calista is still pro-Power, and still believes she is one, although she still hasn’t actually taken the Sway Simons gave her. Chaotic Chick wants to take Kaotic Chic to a whole new level. Possibly quite a nasty one too.
