“The Raconteur of the Funeral Circuit” is episode six of season one of Powers.
In the previous episode, “Paint It Black”, Zora took the credit for stopping Wolfe – although it appeared that this may not have been deliberate. Walker, after he came to, didn’t challenge this, even though it was actually him who stopped Wolfe, because he got his powers back. Walker gave the impression that he couldn’t remember what had actually happened – may not have been true, as the Sway was still having some sort of effect. Perhaps not a good effect; good effects rarely, at least in the media, cause peoples’ eyes to glow red. Walker has lost his powers again; when Wolfe went into the Drainer, they disappeared. Which may mean that he will get them back if Wolfe leaves its effect.
Wolfe is now held by the Drainer, but its functioning seems a bit erratic, and it flickers. Triphammer – Harley – is still working on it; Powers Division’s Drainer is still not working. Only the one holding Wolfe, and the prototype, are working.
A memorial is being held at Powers Division for the four dead cops, and most of the episode takes place there. At least one of the cops is taking the deaths very badly, to the extent where he’s becoming rather anti-Powers. Retro Girl shows her face, as does Walker’s current partner, Pilgrim, and her father. Pilgrim is not happy with what Walker did to her, and she has daddy issues as well. Harley also lets slip, whilst drunk, something about the Drainer which suggests he had a specific purpose for creating it.
Zora also arrives, with her new publicist, Candace Stockley, the widow of Walker’s previous partner. Zora is still a bit on the immature side. Candace’s son, Krispin, and Calista are out tagging a police station and filming it. and Chaotic Chick plans to take the video and, by the sounds of things, tweak it a bit.
Johnny Royalle wants to take all the Sway off the streets, and he also wants the assistance of one of Simons to try and find out what the Sway is doing to people. It’s not having the effect he expected. Possibly using fluid taken from the brain of a psychopath was not the brightest idea. Simons seems to be going behind Johnny’s back when it comes to Calista as well.
