“Requiem” is episode six of season two of Powers.
At the end of the previous episode (Incidentally, this series has post-credits scenes, which isn’t common in TV programmes – I only just found out), “Shaking the Tree”, Senator Bailey Brown, the former Cobalt Knight, was murdered. Walker had gone on television and given an interview to Nicole, stating that he believed that RetroGirl was murdered by the Power called Heavy, a man who used to work for the FBI. Currently, both Walker and Pilgrim have been suspended. Agent Lange did not take the interview well, but she doesn’t seem to be an entirely free agent.
Harley warns Walker that he has now painted a huge target on his back. Walker is perfectly happy with this, if it will help him get the people responsible for RetroGirl’s death. Triphammer gives Walker and Pilgrim some new toys that he hopes will neutralise Heavy. Although he can’t be certain about this. After they leave, Heavy turns up himself at Triphammer’s and kills him, crushing him to death.
Walker wants to go and investigate the murder, but Pilgrim points out that they are both suspended and going to the murder scene will not really help (in the process Walker finds out about Pilgrim and Kutter’s relationship). Walker doesn’t know why everyone else is being murdered and not him. RetroGirl was found with a crushed lump of plastic in her hand and Walker thinks he’s figured out what it is. So they go and have a chat with Craig, RetroGirl’s agent, again. Walker figured out that RetroGirl was quitting. The crushed plastic item was an action figure. Craig is not the one responsible for her death but he obviously knows something and is terrified of someone. Scared enough that he kills himself. Lange is not happy again. She also knows something but won’t share. Walker and Pilgrim do finally manage to find the scene of RetroGirl’s murder.
Sergeant Martinez was the one discovered the body and Zora arrives at the scene as well, also upset. Calista is practicing for the annual Colossal Fun annual gala, but she’s upset by the death of both Triphammer and RetroGirl. Conrad helps coach her (but it seemed in the previous episode that he might not be as nice as he’s making out). He does do a good job of motivating her though.
Martinez and Zora, after a fairly rocky start to their relationship, are getting on a bit better. Triphammer has left them a message though. He wants them to continue working together, and has left them everything in a trust.
Heavy is just a paid assassin though, so who is paying for his services? There is a fairly obvious suspect.
