“Aftershocks” is episode eleven of season two of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Well, the series is finally back after the mid-season finale, “What They Become”.
This opens with a young man with no eyes (I think he appeared, older, at the end of “What They Become”) teleporting randomly around a room and seeming a bit distressed by events, before returning to the present.
S.H.I.E.L.D. got into the alien city, and Raina, Skye and Trip were all bathed with energy from the artefact. Skye appears normal, Raina is now covered in spines (reminds me of a mutant from X3) and Trip is dead. All three of them were covered in black goo which then solidified – Raina and Skye broke free, but Trip just crumbled to pieces. Skye is being kept in isolation for tests. Of the three of them, she seems to have come out of the experience the best – Trip is dead (boy, this series can be hard on the cast) and Raina is not exactly in the best of conditions.
Whitehall is dead, which leaves a power vacuum in HYDRA. He was only one leader, and Baron Wolfgang von Strucker (who appeared in a mid-credits scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) is by the sounds of it the overall leader. S.H.I.E.L.D. plans to take advantage of this by using Bakshi against HYDRA.
