Manifest – Call Sign

“Call Sign” is episode twelve of season two of Manifest.

In the previous episode, “Unaccompanied Minors”, Jace Baylor and his two compatriots were arrested, even though a calling told Michaela to let him go. She’s interviewing Baylor, who’s threatening her, and Jared and Drea are working on the other two. None of them fold.

Michaela is creeped out by Baylor; she tells Jared it’s as if he knows about the callings. Jared says they will have another go at them in the morning. Michaela is busy. Getting married. Zeke is dying and only has two days left. She thinks Baylor might know something that can help Zeke. Jared says he will be there and asks what he can do. Get her a conviction.

Michaela arrives at Ben’s; he has a video to show her of her trying on her mother’s wedding dress and veil. Their father gave them away, though.

Zeke returns home; ice is forming on his body.

Saanvi finds her boss and says she needs to be reinstated and get back into her lab. He says the decision came well above him. He can’t revoke licenses; only the NIH can. Is there anyone in the government with reason to shut her down? Yes; the Major.

TJ and Olive are in the garage looking for something. Olive asks if TJ wants to go skiing at spring break. TJ seems to have something on his mind.

Michaela and Zeke arrive; Cal heads upstairs and Zeke follows. Cal thought weddings were supposed to be fun, and what fun is there in Zeke dying? Zeke tells Cal that they still need to have the bachelor party, as Cal is his best man.

Grace and Michaela find Ben decorating the house, then Ben has a calling of the plane exploding. Michaela hopes it is something that will help Zeke. Ben will go to the airport where the plane exploded.

Cal wonders if there’s a way to beat the death date. Zeke doesn’t know, but wonders what Cal thinks. Cal says he beat cancer. Zeke admits that’s a point, but thinks this is different.

There’s a story on the news about Baylor’s arrest, and the cook house exploding. Michaela calls Jared as he and Drea are watching the three get on the bus. She wonders if the three were supposed to die in the lab. Jared thinks it’s more likely someone above Baylor in the food chain did it, and confronts Baylor. Who threatens Jared and Michaela again.

Ben is at the airport when he sees someone from the plane he’s been trying to find, Ward Attwood. Ward has been having of the plane exploding and says it’s all his fault. He rushed the inspection before take-off and must have missed something. Ben explains the callings to him; he thinks they are supposed to figure out something together.

Zeke ends up telling the truth to his mother that he’s dying. Saanvi is trying to contact Vance to get help. And Baylor seems determined to take revenge, as if that will make everything okay for him; he’s giving a definite impression that he’s both stupid and dangerous with it.
