Manifest – Airplane Bottles

“Airplane Bottles” is episode nine of season two of Manifest.

Cal wakes from a dream about seeing something through the window of Flight 828 and goes wandering, ending up in the nursery as a storm rages.

Zeke and Michaela are talking about the death date and what to do if Saanvi’s cure works. He’s heading to see Saanvi.

TJ, who was found alive in the previous episode, “Carry On”, is staying at Ben’s whilst he recovers. Olive wants him to work on the Al Zuras journal with her and not waste another minute. Ben then finds Grace watching Cal, who is trying to build something in the nursery, using parts of the crib and other things. Cal says he can’t remember and he thinks he was there when the plane disappeared.

Michaela arrives at the precinct to see Internal Affairs talking to the captain. Jared asks why she did it. Because his new friends think she’s subhuman. She then gets called to see the captain. Who seems to also be an Xer.

Zeke startles Saanvi, who seems to be wired. So much so that he asks if she’s on something. Saanvi says that since she took the serum, she’s had minor impulse control issues. A temporary side effect. It will take a little time to get back to normal. Zeke isn’t sure impulse control issues are the best thing for a recovering addict and Saanvi’s behaviour is not reassuring.

Jared heads to see Captain Bowers; she tells him that if she didn’t go up the ladder with this, Michaela would have done so herself. This allows the captain to keep it under control.

Michaela is speaking to the two people from Internal Affairs. It becomes evident very quickly that they aren’t interested in Jared; they’re focusing on her. And threatening her with prisons.

Ben is asking Cal what happened to the plane. Cal can’t remember; he has to build it. A spiderweb with the plane trapped in it. TJ is asking Olive why them? She says because the tarot card came to her and he knows Latin. TJ says the callings don’t know how to use Google Translate. Olive does and got gibberish. TJ starts to translate; Al Zuras’s crew started hearing the word of God. And that for every blessing a price must be paid. For every good that comes from the voice, a trial follows. And they tried to dispel the ailment and cheat death again.

Saanvi is still hyper and Zeke is sending messages to Michaela about her with no response. He wants to put a hold on the treatment. Because Saanvi is getting worse and needs a doctor. Saanvi says she could lose her job if it was found out she was testing on herself. Zeke thinks there must be a doctor she trusts. Alex Bates. Her ex. But she’s not taking Saanvi’s calls. Zeke says he’ll go find her and Saanvi should stay where she is in her current state.

Internal Affairs doesn’t seem to care about Jared and has Michaela’s files. They’re suggesting she was staging crimes to help her career. Ben’s family and Cal, with the exception of Olive, are acting a bit strangely. And Jared discovers that people who think others are not human are willing to do bad things to them. Because they aren’t human.
