“Topanga” is episode ten of season one of La Brea and the season finale.
In the previous episode, “Father and Son”, Eve headed to where Levi and Josh are being held captive. Silas asks her where Isiaih is; he’s told he’s somewhere safe. Silas knows Eve’s children will die if Isiaih doesn’t go through and doesn’t care, even if Josh is his great-grandson. Eve knows that Silas isn’t who he says he is but doesn’t answer and has her tied up. She has a sharp stone up her sleeve and was planning to get caught and starts cutting the rope.
At the camp they’re talking about heading to 1988 through the light at Topanga. Aldridge explains that the light isn’t in the sky and tells them where it is. Marybeth asks how she knows. Because Aldridge is the reason the sinkhole opened. They never meant this to happen. One of the others involved was Silas. Lucas and Marybeth are going to go; Sam and Riley will stay. Then Ty and Paara return and explain that Josh and Levi were taken and need help. Marybeth wants her gun back and Ty goes to get his.
Veronica and Lily – the latter is Ella in the future – are heading to Topanga. Lily explains that Aldridge said this was how she could be with her family again. Veronica thought they could both go to 1988 and start over, but Lily misses her real family. Then Veronica steps into a metal trap chained to a tree.
Isiaih is watching where Eve, Josh and Levi are captive when he’s grabbed by one of Silas’ men. Who Sam then chokes out. Sam wants some to continue taking Isiaih to Topanga whilst they free the others. Eve frees herself as the others attack, and take down everyone but Silas. Josh is starting to feel ill.
In the present, the map indicates the sinkhole will open in downtown Seattle. Which will kill a lot of people. Gavin thinks one person will believe them and they need to tell him.
Paara knows a shortcut to Topanga, but warns there was a village there that was protective. There will be traps. Silas knows the shortcut, but it’s too dangerous to use alone.
Scott is telling the cow he’s a coward when Aldrige tells him she needs to go somewhere a few miles away and needs help getting there. She won’t explain. Scott thinks she knows more and says in science fiction, people like Aldridge are the bad guy. Aldridge says if Scott gets her where she needs to go, she’ll give him the answers.
Lucas, Marybeth, Riley and Isiaih are confronted by someone with a weapon. Marybeth shoots him, but not fatally; he knocks her down then goes to kill Lucas. Levi shoots him as he and the others arrive. Marybeth has, however, been stabbed
Gavin and the others meet with Markham and convince him to evacuate downtown Seattle. Lily can’t free Veronica, who tells her to leave. Sam is concerned Marybeth may be more badly injured than she looks. Ty’s illness is affecting him and Josh and Izzy are getting sicker. And it looks like the timeline is changing.
