“The Storm” is episode seven of season one of La Brea.
Eve is digging a grave for Diana, who was killed in the previous episode, “The Way Home”, when Marybeth joins her. Marybeth says that Diana shot first. The others are upset. But once someone has decided you are the bad guy, there’s no changing their mind.
Scott takes Riley and Josh to see the Confederate gold he and Lucas found. He explains that this means there was another sinkhole and there may be others. Riley agrees. Josh says they’re stuck there and it’s his mother’s fault.
Eve tries speaking to Josh. He won’t listen.
Ty comes around after Veronic hit him. He’s tied up and sees someone. It’s a woman from the village and she approaches with a blade. To kill a snake. She cuts him free and is leaving when Ty collapses.
Levi speaks at Diana’s funeral. Afterwards, Marybeth asks Eve if she’s seen Ty. They’re going to head out to look for him when Sam says they need to talk. Everyone would be more comfortable if Marybeth gives up her gun. The situation deteriorates and Lucas says they both need to go. And suggests they put it to a vote. The majority vote to kick them out. Including Josh.
Gavin is in cuffs and remembers what Aldridge told him about going back to the beginning. November 16th 1988. Markham enters and has him uncuffed. There’s an NDA for him to sign agreeing to leave it alone. This is the best offer he’ll get.
When Gavin returns home, he tells Izzy he signed and suggests she goes to bed. After she does, Nathan arrives. She didn’t know what Aldridge planned and Gavin repeats what she said. Which is close to the date when he was adopted. He was dropped off anonymously at Child Protective Services but the records are sealed. Nathan mentions the NDA. Gavin points out that it doesn’t say anything about helping a friend reconnect with their birth family.
Ty wakes; the woman has stitched him up. He’s not the first Sky Person to come through and they’ve been coming as long as she can remember. She’s going to leave but there’s a storm coming.
Eve is packing and Levi finds her. He doesn’t want her to leave. Eve says she has to; people aren’t thinking clearly and this will give them time to calm down.
Riley speaks to Josh, and there’s a storm coming, then Sam joins them. Then Scott shows up; they need to talk. They’re in an Ice Age and the oncoming storm will make things get real bad real fast. Sam doesn’t think they need to panic. As a flock of panicking birds flies overhead.
Marybeth argues with Lucas and says she’s given up on him. As she’s leaving, a telephone pole starts to fall and she runs back. Both end up trapped, Lucas knocked out.
Gavin isn’t telling Izzy what they’re doing until he knows something. And he and Nathan discover some odd things. Meanwhile, the others are trying to free Lucas and Marybeth and the storm is coming.
