“Day Two” is episode two of season one of La Brea.
At the end of the previous episode, “Pilot”, Eve noticed that the Hollywood Hills on the ambulance matched the hills they could see. Then a sabre-toothed tiger approached.
They run away from the tiger, then Ty stops to shoot at it, successfully killing it. Then a second approaches. They manage to hide partway down a cliff, though Ty can’t stop wheezing.
Riley and Scott are with Josh. His wound is infected.
Ty thought sabre-tooths were extinct. Does Eve still believe they’re in LA? Eve can’t wait and says she has to go. Sam says he’s the only doctor and has to come with. They set off when they think the tiger has gone. It hasn’t, and Sam falls backwards off a cliff. Ty and Eve run and the tiger corners them. Then falls into a hunting trap. They realise there must be someone else out there.
San Bernadino, Oct 26th 2018, and Gavin is in the hospital and his family joins him. It’s just after the plane crash. Eve sends the kids away so she can ask Gavin what’s going on. Gavin says he saw something. Flashes, like someone hit is head with a hammer. He couldn’t focus and lost control. Gavin explains what he saw and that the doctors said it was from the concussion. Except Gavin saw it before the crash.
Gavin is looking at Eve’s wedding ring that he found whilst a Dr Peter Shen is on the television, saying the birds that came from the pit are clearly not from the present day. Izzy comes in and Gavin tells her the thinks Eve and Josh are alive and in the place he’s seeing. The place the birds came from. They need to send a rescue mission. He knows how this sounds but thinks they could prove it.
Ty and Eve are looking for Sam. He also went over the cliff with all the medical supplies.
Dr Nathan is being told an exploratory mission can’t be authorised without something concrete. She looks at Gavin’s file afterwards.
Gavin and Izzy have gone to see Dr Shen. They convince him to carbon date Eve’s wedding ring. Someone is watching them.
Scott is trying to get cell reception as Marybeth approaches. He thought if he could get a signal, they could call for help. She reassures him and says she is a cop, but from Louisiana. She was in LA for her own reasons. She heads off to try and find a car that can charge her phone, but fails. Then sees a car she recognises. The one with drugs in. She doesn’t seem surprised. Marybeth heads to speak to the girls whose father was attacked and asks if they’ve seen the owner of the car, describing him. The older, Veronica, wants Marybeth to watch Lily as she needs to bury her father.
Eve and Ty find Sam. He fell on his back and isn’t in great shape. They can’t stay but he’s having difficulty moving.
Quite a few people have secrets and Gavin is seeing the past. And more people are realising that’s where everyone is. It also seems the sinkhole wasn’t a total surprise.
