“Blood Moon” is seven nine of season two of Krypton.
Lyta, rescued in the previous episode, “Mercy”, is explaining how Zod cloned her and somatically reconditioned the clone because he couldn’t afford an open challenge to his authority and wanted a mother more receptive to what he was doing. He said he did it out of love. Dev can only imagine what Zod has planned for the rest of the galaxy if he’ll do that to those he loves. Lyta knows exactly what Zod intends. To use Doomsday to annihilate alien civilisations who don’t, well, kneel before Zod. Once he gets Wegthor and the fuel, nothing will stand in his way.
Seg says they need to get to Wegthor and warn his grandfather. With the space elevator down, there’s no way to reach it or contact them. However, Kem introduced Dev to a smuggler who had modified a skimmer for short range space travel. Dev took it with him when he deserted. Seg will go; Lyta wants to come with but is told she is in no fit shape. Nyssa volunteers. Zod is currently pontificating to his troops.
Seg and Lyta are talking when Nyssa joins them, ready to leave. Outside, Seg asks Nyssa how she’s doing. She’s happy Seg got Lyta back, because she’s the love of Seg’s life. Nyssa is afraid that Seg is the love of hers. They find the skimmer where Dev said it would be.
Lis-Ser is telling Zod to not do it, there may not be enough of the Black Mercy toxin in Doomsday’s system to bring him under control. Zod suggests she pray to her gods then, because he’s doing it anyway. He releases Doomsday and tells it to kneel. It does.
Lyta is running a fever and Dev and Jayna discuss ways of curing it. When Lyta wakes, she apologises to her mother for what she did, but Jayna reassures her and tells her she did nothing wrong.
Seg and Nyssa arrive on Wegthor and tell Val that Zod’s fleet is coming. This intel is questioned, given the last time Nyssa gave them any, their forces died. Nyssa says Zod played her and Seg says to trust him. The rebels were already preparing for an attack but didn’t expect it so soon. Zod has lost the element of surprise. Kem and Adam are planning the defences when Seg grabs Kem from behind. Group hug.
Only one of Zod’s ships has been sent to Wegthor. Seg says one is enough; it can hold five battalions of Sagitari. However, it looks like it may not. It does, however, contain one Doomsday. Zod is informed and asked for orders. Kill them all.
The rebels on the surface open fire on Doomsday. When they stop, Val asks the commander for his report. They think they got Doomsday. They are wrong. Val orders a retreat. The commander ignores him and his forces go up against Doomsday. This goes as well as can be expected.
In the tunnels, Adam tells them they need to run. Only one person in the universe has ever stopped Doomsday and he doesn’t exist anymore. The question is how. Well, there’s that ship Zod sent.
