“Lovers’ Quarrel” is episode twelve of season two of Harley Quinn.
At the end of the previous episode, “A Fight Worth Fighting For”, a mind-controlled Ivy confronted Harley. Ivy is now trying to kill Harley, but Kite Man swoops down and rescues Harley, explaining about the whole Psycho thing. And the wedding is tomorrow.
The Justice League is dealing with the Parademons; Wonder Woman catches one with her lasso and demands to know where Psycho is hiding. She doesn’t speak Parademon and looks at Superman. Who takes offence to the matter. But does speak Parademon.
At the mall, Psycho wants to know what King Shark’s most embarrassing memory is. Turns out it’s hurting his little brother, smelling blood and killing him. A Parademon crashes in and an image of Darkseid appears. He wants to know if Psycho has Harley’s head. Not yet, but soon. Then Riddler interrupts; the Justice League have destroyed the Parademons and are on their way. Darkseid tells Psycho that Harley made a deal. Psycho made the same deal. Darkseid will return at nightfall to collect someone’s head. King Shark and Clayface taunt Psycho and Riddler is worried. Psycho is not.
At Kite Man’s place, Harley is wondering how Cy was immune to Psycho’s mind control. Then Cy’s eye, all that’s left of him, blinks at her. Kite Man says it’s Morse code. Saying ‘plug me in’ and attachments sprout. With the eye plugged into the television, Cy, now channelling Max Headroom, appears on the screen. The CIA implanted a device to prevent him being mind controlled. He knows how to make such a device. Using technology that is no longer around. The other way will be harder.
The Justice League are heading towards Ivy and Riddler suggests to Psycho they flee. The League threatens Ivy, then mind-controlled Clayface and King Shark appear. Batman doesn’t think they’re a threat. Clayface increases in size significantly and King Shark has got over his dislike of violence.
Kite Man is still trying to make the device. Harley tells him to hurry up or the person she loves will die. Er, the friend she loves. Then takes a kite. Harley arrives at where the Justice League are fighting the others; she’s not happy to find out Clayface can become huge, given the disguises he normally chose. Wonder Woman takes down King Shark and Batman takes down Clayface. Ivy incapacitates Superman then takes Harley.
Harley wants to protect Ivy from the Justice League and stop Psycho from controlling her. And then there’s the whole loving Ivy who’s about to marry Kite Man thing. Could get awkward.
