“L.O.D.R.S.V.P.” is episode eight of season one of Harley Quinn.
King Shark is sat outside the Atlantis Museum of Art. He claims he’s waiting for the museum to open. Then an alarm sounds and Harley comes swimming out pursued by guards. Aquaman appears and tells the guards, with a fair amount of pomposity that suggests he’s actually Clayface, that he will go after them. Aquaman is Clayface and he, Harley and King Shark get onto a yacht where Dr Psycho is waiting. Then Aquaman – the real one – arrives. He seems to be just as pompous as Clayface pretending to be him. Aquaman wants Harley to return the jewels she stole. Harley fires a flare gun and Aquaman is seized by vines as Poison Ivy rises out of the sea.
The news is saying that Poison Ivy was the standout member of Harley’s crew. Ivy insists she’s not part of the crew; she was asked for a favour and provided said favour. Harley is excited; she has received and invite to the Legion of Doom to discuss further possibilities. Harley says people said she couldn’t do it. Ivy points out she said she could. Yes, but Ivy’s her friend. Dr Psycho is looking forward to moving out of the mall. Cy insists the mall is good. Then something loud roars and the mall shakes. Cy can’t hear any noise. He’s also not interested in the Legion of Doom. Psycho isn’t going to go with them, as he’s banned for life and probably shouldn’t. Ivy says she wishes she could come – not convincingly – and Harley says she’s invited. Harley guilts Ivy into coming along.
Scarecrow shows them around the Legion’s headquarters and Lex Luthor says he’s been watching Harley since she went solo. He’s not seen a rising start like her since… well, him. Legion members can nominate others to join and he’s nominated Harley. Harley is excited. Ivy is less impressed.
Ivy questions Lex away from Harley, wanting to know his real interest. Because the Legion has sent Ivy invites before. 148 to be precise. And she rebuffed them all. Ivy doesn’t want to join. Lex doesn’t really want Harley; he wants Ivy. If Ivy doesn’t join, Harley doesn’t. And Harley is really excited.
Psycho is sleeping in the mall when he’s woken by a noise. Cy still claims he can’t hear anything. It happens again. Cy claims it’s the pipes. A tentacle bursts through the floor, grabs Psycho and smashes him around. Cy admits there may be a giant tentacle monster in the basement.
There’s a party at the Legion headquarters and Harley’s competition is KG Beast. Ivy is trying to talk Harley out of being there, saying she can do better. King Shark is arguing with some fish and Ivy bumps into Kite Man. Kite Man wasn’t invited, though; he’s part of the staff. He’s got a catering gig; being Ivy’s boyfriend – in the previous episode, “The Line”, Ivy agreed they were dating – is expensive. Then Aquaman crashes the party.
Dr Psycho and Cy are dealing with the beast in the mall. Which results in Cy admitting what it really is. Harley really, really wants to join the Legion of Doom, despite Ivy’s attempts to dissuade her. This leads to an argument between the two of them.
