Harley Quinn – Being Harley Quinn

“Being Harley Quinn” is episode five of season one of Harley Quinn.

A man is being dangled above lava. When he’s dropped, a realtor tells Harley and Ivy that this was a staging kill. If the volcano sacrifice thing is Harley’s thing, this is the lair for her. She decides she’ll take it. Then has second thoughts. Ivy suggest they look at other options. After looking at six lairs with no decisions, the three head back to Ivy’s. The realtor tells Harley that a supervillain lair is a reflection of who they are. Who is Harley Quinn?

King Shark, who has joined the group, has found some t-shirts with ‘Suicide Squad’ emblazoned on them, thinking Harley has got them a uniform. They’re just some group that keeps asking Harley to join. King Shark puts the shirts on everyone. Ivy’s landlord, Sy, who evicted them in the previous episode, “Finding Mr. Right”, wants them out soon. Harley, on being questioned about who she is, ends up screaming and freezing.

Dr Psycho could go inside and do a mind fix. If Ivy calls him ‘Dr Psycho’ and not just ‘Psycho.’ However, Ivy doesn’t want Psycho rummaging around Harley’s head on his own, so all four of them enter. Then all five collapse in a heap on the floor.

Harley is inside her own head in her Museum of Memories. King Shark gets confused about how she can be there and when they are inside her head. Harley tells him not to think too much about brain logic for the next 20 minutes. Dr Psycho is going to reboot Harley’s brain and tells everyone not to touch anything. It would be bad. Harley is thinking she has problems. On Ivy asking if she’s only now thinking this, Harley says more than normal. She’s watching her origin story when she went into the vat of acid. Only, it skips over a bit. The bit where the Joker pushed her in, according to Harley. Now, that doesn’t sound like what happened. Before Dr Psycho can trigger the manual override, Harley touches something. And they end up trapped.

Sy is showing people around Ivy’s apartment when he comes across everyone in a heap on the floor. Wearing t-shirts emblazoned ‘Suicide Squad.’ He calls someone and tells them it’s happened again.

King Shark is attacked by an 11-year-old Harley. She tells him she wasn’t sweet at that age. Or any age for that matter. The brain has apparently sent Harley junior to deal with intruders. And if they die in Harley’s brain, they die. There are many more psycho Harleys.

Ivy thinks it’s comforting to know Harley has always been this messed up. Harley is realising why her mother recycled so many wine bottles. Whilst looking for the emergency exit, they get a view through the optic nerve. Sy is complaining about another suicide cult. A woman with him suggest burning the place down and claiming on the insurance. He thinks they can just burn the bodies.

Harley’s subconscious holds a lot of Jokers. Ivy thinks Harley isn’t over her ex. They are saved by an 11-year-old Frankie Muniz. 11-year-old Harley had a major crush on him.

They need to get out of Harley’s brain before the 11-year-old Harleys kill them all, and before Sy burns their bodies whilst they’re still alive.
