“Batman’s Back, Man” is episode five of season two of Harley Quinn.
This episode opens with two people arguing over whether to watch the new Harley Quinn. One doesn’t want to and doesn’t think much of the series. But agrees to watch it when the summary says that this episode is entirely about Batman.
At the end of “New Gotham”, it was revealed that Bruce Wayne had been found under Joker Tower, but was in a coma. Bruce staggers out of bed and makes his way to the window. Gotham looks fine. It’s a picture, though. Alfred tells him to get back to bed. He’s in no physical shape to fight crime. They could binge watch some television.
Bruce wants to see Jim Gordon, even though Alfred doesn’t want to bother him. He’s making sure law and order are returned to the city. Gordon shows up, though, and ends up asking Bruce, who doesn’t know what’s been going on, if he’s been in a coma for the last few months. No, of course he wasn’t. Gordon wants money to take back the city. He’s the only one who can do it since Batman abandoned them. Bruce asks if there are no heroes. Not good ones. There’s one in a wig who calls himself Macaroni. And another who calls herself Batgirl. At the end of “Riddler U”, Barbara Gordon decided to cape up, though her father doesn’t know that and doesn’t think either is capable of taking on Bane or Two-Face.
Bane is meeting Two-Face. He thinks they should team up. Two-Face does not.
Bruce is watching Batgirl’s live stream. He doesn’t like it. Not because of, as Alfred suggests, the unsanctioned use of his logo. It’s a symbol, not a logo. He’s worried she’ll get killed whilst wearing the suit and the city will lose hope. Alfred says there’s nothing he can do about it. Bruce thinks Batman can. And confronts Batgirl. Who apologises for using his logo. It’s a symbol, not a logo. Batgirl then streams herself with Batman.
Which causes problem for Two-Face when he tries to rob a bank. They’re not afraid of him; Batman is back. Bruce is watching the coverage. He never said he was back. Alfred points out he didn’t deny it either. Bruce insists he is capable. Alfred says he isn’t. He can’t even put on his socks. Bruce decides to call Lucius Fox.
Two-Face, now that Batman is back, decides to partner up with Bane after all. No, it doesn’t have anything to do with Batman being back. Bane does not like the branding.
Bruce believes an armoured suit – which seems to be Iron Man inspired – will make him capable again. Alfred does not.
