First Wave – The Heist

“The Heist” is episode ten of season two of First Wave.

A woman, Harlie, hands a drill to a man, Decks. He wants to know how much time they have. Another man, Ritchie, says they’re good to go; he can bypass the alarm for a minute and a half, after which it will trigger. Decks wants to know if they can trust the new guy. Harlie says yes, when it comes to the vault. Decks is concerned because he hasn’t worked in a long time. Harlie states that he’s the best; trust her. Decks is still concerned; he asks Harlie if she called things off with him because of the new guy. No; she doesn’t mix business with pleasure. The new guy is Cade and Decks wants him to use the drill on the door. Cade tells him it will take too long. Decks isn’t happy Cade is along, and threatens to kill him if he causes problems. Cade attaches something to the door and tells Ritchie to disable the alarm. Before it can reset, Cade has the vault door open. Decks wants to go first, then calls the others to follow. It’s an odd-looking vault. Decks says the last thing he wants to do is walk into a trap. Then a pole comes down from the ceiling and impales him and the door shuts.

Cade isn’t getting back into the game because he wants the cash; he’s helping two of his old crew rob a company in Silicon Valley thanks to a quatrain. Harlie found the scores and Ritchie is the best alarm bypass man. They’ve been hired by the Gua to steal a computer weapon that can hurt humans. They used to be family; now they are allies. But Cade isn’t there for the money.

Ritchie didn’t detect anything before the pole struck and Cade wants to bail. Harlie doesn’t; the buyers will pay millions. Witch Decks dead, she calls the shots. Cade thinks this is a bad idea. The room they are in isn’t in the specs, and Harlie thinks it must be a security precaution. Cade works on the next door, which he says is too easy. He can’t detect a trap though. Harlie throws a ball in but nothing happens. The next room is an armoury. Ritchie picks up a few sample weapons. Cade asks why a computer company would have an armoury. Harlie tells him because they have tech worth millions. Cade still doesn’t buy it.

The next room’s doors also shut behind them. Still no vault. Cade wants to leave and Harlie tells him to run away like he did last time. Ritchie reminds them that they leave personal stuff at home. Then asks if it’s getting hotter. It is; flames erupt in the room. Through the next door, Cade sees two Eddies. They’re not; it’s Harlie and Ritchie. Cade is hallucinating. He tells the others it’s a setup and trap. The plans are suspect and there’s no score. Ritchie agrees.

They backtrack, but the room they just came from no longer has flames. Then blood starts pouring from the walls. The three start arguing; it seems Ritchie landed Cade in jail for two years. Ritchie points a shotgun at Cade, then blows away the door lock and leaves. Cade and Harlie are arguing and he starts strangling her, before stopping. He gets the next door open and the next room has smiley faces on the wall, but no Ritchie. Harlie enters and starts laughing, then Cade does the same. Cade realises that they are being controlled by the rooms. This is the weapon.

The rooms are messing with their minds. They are in a maze of some sort and every room has a different effect. And many of the effects are dangerous. They need to find a way out before the place kills them all, and there’s definite baggage left over from Cade’s previous experiences with Ritchie and Harlie.
