“Robots of Sherwood” is episode three of season eight of the new Doctor Who.
The Doctor gives Clara the option of going anywhere she wants, and she picks Sherwood Forest to see Robin Hood. Although the Doctor insists he isn’t real (he had encountered him before, but in a simulation in “The Last Oak Tree”). Then, they meet him.
The Sheriff of Nottingham is oppressing the place, as he does in many of the stories, and Robin and his men are opposing him. Unfortunately, the Sheriff is aided by robot soldiers.
This is often a very silly episode. Even the Doctor at one point states that is getting silly.
Strange that the Doctor would insist that Robin Hood isn’t real, as he likely was, in some form or other, rather like King Arthur. And, rather like Arthur, his story is frequently changed. This is one of the more stereotypical portrayals of Robin, including the Lincoln green getup.
More foreshadowing for, presumably, the finale.
