“Into the Dalek” is episode two of season eight of the new Doctor Who.
It hasn’t taken long for the latest incarnation of the Doctor to encounter the Daleks; only two episodes in and they’ve already appeared.
The Doctor rescues a pilot from a small fighter craft, apparently part of the resistance (against the Daleks?) just before it is destroyed by a Dalek mothership. He takes the pilot to her base ship, where they need a doctor to literally go inside a rather unusual Dalek and help it.
This involves being miniaturised, which is not the first time that the Doctor and a companion have gone inside someone’s head – it was also done by the Fourth Doctor who went inside his own head in “The Invisible Enemy”, the episode in which he met K-9 – although this time he’s a bit bigger, although still quite small.
I wonder what happened to the colourful Smartie-Daleks? They appeared and then vanished to be replaced by what looks like the Time War Daleks again. Perhaps they didn’t appeal (as calling them Smartie-Daleks might suggest).
The woman, Missy, who was seen at the end of the previous episode, “Deep Breath”, appears again. Presumably foreshadowing the season finale.
