“Survived Much Worse” is episode eight of season two of Batwoman.
Ryan and Alice are both writing about Kate and how they’ve been changed by her. Ryan is writing that today is the day she dies; Alice that today is the day she kills her sister.
Mary enters the Batcave to find Ryan mixing up a cocktail of drugs. That she found on YouTube. Mary says this will lower Ryan’s life expectancy from days to 24 hours at most. Ryan says she placed a tracker on Alice in the previous episode, “It’s Best You Stop Digging”, and needs to follow her to Coryana, find Kate and a Desert Rose to cure herself. Mary says if Ryan is wrong, she’ll die; Ryan’s response is that she’s dead already. And where’s Luke.
Luke is currently telling Sophie they have a tracker on Alice. He doesn’t want to say how that happened. Sophie tells him that it’s because he’s working with Batwoman. Luke needs to work on his poker face. Sophie wants to know why Batwoman isn’t going herself. Because she’s dying. Luke needs a stem from the Desert Rose to save her.
Another agent tells Sophie that Ocean has been spotted flying to Rome. Sophie says Alice’s deal was to kill Ocean and she doesn’t think she’s crazy enough to go without. Luke thinks she is crazy enough to use a fake, though, and if Safiyah believes Alice, she’ll hand Kate over. Sophie needs to get going.
In the Batcave, the three of them are watching Sophie’s feed as she and Commander Kane are heading out. Then they’re attacked by Safiyah’s people and bundled away. Ryan says there’s no choice; she has to inject herself.
Luke says Alice’s tracker died in the Mediterranean. There’s no island there and he explains how it could be hidden, and mentions a bullseye, which he then fails to explain. Ryan is wondering what will happen when there are two Batwomans. Batwomen? Luke has found Ryan a ride; not a great one. He also gives her some EMPs as the only electrical items on the island were the handcuffs. On the plane, Luke explains to Ryan what the bullseye was and what a HALO jump is. Ryan thinks this would be easier with a Batplane. Luke will work on that after he gets the kinks out of the Batsub.
Alice is with Safiyah, who is justifying why she erased Alice and Ocean’s memories. And calls Alice foolish. Not because the Ocean is a fake, but because her men found a tracker on Alice. Kane and Safiyah come around in a cell and Tatiana greets them.
On the plane, Luke is telling Ryan to jump now, or she’ll miss the island and end up in the ocean, and there’s no shark repellent on the belt (a clear reference to Batman: The Movie). Ryan asks why not. She’/s told because it would be stupid. Ryan jumps out and deploys her chute, activating an EMP.
In the cell, Tatiana is telling Kane that he’s there to watch Alice kill Kate. Sophie is there because Safiyah wants her to join her army. Sophie asks why she’d join an army of trained killers. Tatiana says because she’s already in one; Kane’s. Only theirs protects people, not oppresses them. However, the EMP has disabled the cuffs and Kane and Sophie take Tatiana out.
Ryan lands and Luke and Mary get a shot of a field of the Desert Rose before her feed goes offline. Then Ryan is attacked. Safiyah and Alice are talking; Safiyah doesn’t think Alice really wants to kill Kate. She’s checking to see if Alice really wants Kate. She does. Then Ryan is brought in; she offers Safiyah something for something in exchange. Is Safiyah sure that’s really Ocean?
Alice is going to have to decide what she really wants, as Ryan doesn’t think she truly wants Kate dead either. However, there are various secrets floating around, and they start being revealed.
