“Drink Me” is episode thirteen of season one of Batwoman.
The episode opens with a woman in a domino mask approaching a man in a bed. He doesn’t get quite the experience he’s expecting, as she bites his neck. Which renders him compliant. She then sits and reads a magazine whilst all the man’s blood is drained.
In the previous episode, “Take Your Choice”, Beth was safely smuggled out of Gotham. Sophie had a shot at her, but didn’t take it. But Mouse’s father, who had been masquerading as Dr Campbell, also had a shot and took it, thinking he was killing Alice. Kate is looking at a photo of Beth and Mary is saying it wasn’t supposed to be her. Luke says they did everything right. They don’t know who shot Beth. Mary says they need to prepare for the real Alice, as the Crows think she’s dead. Kate had also chosen Beth to live over Alice and Mary says if her twin had picked an alien doppelganger over her, she’d go nuclear. Mary apologises, but Kate says she’s right. They did the right thing but it didn’t matter and the wrong Beth lived.
Commander Kane has also been exonerated with Alice proven to have framed him. He and Sophie go to the morgue to look at what they think is the body of Alice. Kane wants to know who took the shot, because the bullet wasn’t one of hers. He also asks Sophie why she didn’t shoot. Sophie claims she didn’t have a lock. It was more that she listened to Batwoman.
Alice is looking for Mouse, not knowing that Mouse’s father has taken him. One of the Rabbits says all that was left in Mouse’s hospital room was a stuffed toy.
Luke has Beth’s necklace which he gives to Kate. They only have a partial print on the shooter’s plate and it didn’t match the car. In the meantime, Gotham still has problems. One being a vampire wannabe, who has killed two people. Kate asks if he’s serious. That’s Luke’s point; things have been a little too serious. The killer, Nocturna, seduces her victims and drains all their blood. Very early 2000s, according to Luke. The Crows have replaced the doormen at all the clubs so Luke says they should patrol the one they’ve left. Kate doesn’t think that’s a probable hunting spot and asks Luke about the Curse. It becomes clear, and Luke admits it, he’s never heard of that club.
Kate finds the latest victim being drained and Nocturna is there. Nocturna thinks vampire and bat screams duo. Kate says she works alone. Luke heard that. Nocturna manages to bite Kate with her fangs and Kate is rendered helpless. Nocturna is tying Kate up when a noise is heard. Crows are incoming. Luke says she’s been injected with a paralytic. And that Crows are incoming. She needs 30 seconds. She hasn’t got it. The first Crow is Sophie and Batwoman convinces Sophie to free her. Afterwards, Kate heads to see Mary to get her blood checked for ‘flu.’ Mary suggests the ‘flu’ symptoms are a manifestation of Kate’s guilt. Then discovers Kate has Special K in her blood. Ketamine; animal tranquiliser.
Luke checks over the Batsuit with blacklight and finds nothing. Kate thinks they should draw Nocturna out and that the blacklight will come in handy. Time to throw a party.
Kane is briefing the Crows about how Batwoman is competition and they need to find Nocturna first. Afterwards. he asks Sophie if she’s seen something. Mary’s Instagram page? As little as she has to. There’s a grand opening of Kate’s bar, The Hold Up, tonight. Sophie thought it was several weeks off and it’s not the best night to open, given Nocturna is targeting club goers. And tails off. Kane wants her to go party.
Luke is running facial recognition on everyone coming in and then asks Kate if that’s Sophie. Yes. Yes, it is. Mary thinks Sophie looks good. Luke has never seen Sophie before either. He appears to think the same. A possible match, Elle Scantlin, comes in. She works as a vet. Mary is talking to Sophie and hears Batwoman was drugged the night before. She then decides to set Sophie up with Elle. Luke tells Kate they have a lead. The one all over Sophie. Kate heads to the bar to serve them drinks. Elle appears to be nauseated by the sight of blood. Not a good choice for Nocturna then.
Commander Kane gets to see the footage from the warehouse where Sophie freed Batwoman. Mary finds out that Kate’s real estate assistant, Luke, has an earpiece to his boss. Mary thinks that’s strange. Mary is not stupid. The likelihood she will link Kate and Batwoman together is growing rapidly. Alice is looking for Mouse and is definitely unhappy with Kate for letting her die.
