Battlestar Galactica – Someone to Watch Over Me

“Someone to Watch Over Me” is episode seventeen of season four of the new Battlestar Galactica.

Starbuck is going through repeated briefings of the Cylons and Viper pilots regarding their planet hunting, whilst being haunted by the visions of the dead her found in “Sometimes a Great Notion”.

Tyrol is briefing the admiral, president, Apollo and a Six, Sonja, on the progress of the repairs. They’re going to work until they don’t and Galactica falls apart. Apollo congratulates Sonja on her election. She says she’s going to ask for Boomer. Not to set her free, but to try her for treason for siding with Cavil. And, if found guilty, she will be executed.

The Four, Starbuck and Caprica Six are with Anders in sickbay. He started showing what Cottle says in unprecedented and bizarre brain activity in the previous episode, “Deadlock”. Cottle is pretty sure he’s brain-dead, though, and tells Starbuck to get on with her life. If there’s a change, she’ll be the first to know.

In the bar, Starbuck is listening to a pianist and sparring with him verbally. Tyrol is watching an Eight and remembering Boomer.

Starbuck arrives in Helo’s quarters. He’s got all her stuff that was sold when it was thought she was dead. She only wants one thing. Hera gives Starbuck a picture.

Tyrol heads to see Boomer in the brig. Both admit thinking of the other. And if Tyrol had known who he was back then, it would have been different. He touches her hand and is shown a vision of the house they’d planned to build after mustering out. Boomer thought he’d be okay with it. Currently, he’s not.

Boomer, if extradited, is almost certain to be executed, and Tyrol really doesn’t want that to happen. Starbuck spends more time with the pianist; it turns out she has decent musical knowledge. All told, a very slow episode, with not really a lot happening until close to the end.
