Battlestar Galactica – Greetings from Earth: Part II

“Greetings from Earth: Part II” is episode twenty of season one of the classic series of Battlestar Galactica.

In the previous episode, “Greetings from Earth”, Apollo and Starbuck set off to accompany the shuttle. Cassiopeia is on the shuttle when there’s a message and a reply. Apollo and Starbuck hear them to0o and Starbuck contacts Cassiopeia; she doesn’t know where the messages are coming from. Michael awakes and says they are automatic from the former base on Paradeen. There’s nothing left there but Sarah’s father built a place for her and the children.

Michael says the homing beacon will be destroyed as the Eastern Alliance could be following right now. And, indeed, they were detected. Michale says he is saving their lives from the Eastern Alliance. And the destroyer that detected them is following to Paradeen.

All three ships land and are greeted by two androids, Vector and his son Hector. They head back to the ranch, where Sarah can’t find her father. Vector shows her his grave. They head into the house and Sarah is talking about how she kept her children from seeing the sites of Terra. She and Michael are not a couple; the oldest girl is his and the other three children are hers.

Vector has forgotten to destroy the homing device and Michael is concerned that destroyers may be following. Apollo is annoyed as he wanted to find Luna Seven. Michael tells him that Terra and Luna Seven are dangerous, and Apollo needs to warn his people about the Eastern Alliance. It’s time to tell each other everything. Terra ended up with two sides, East and West, fighting over the resources. The war continues and the Eastern Alliance is destroying the satellite planets.

The next day, Micael admits he has heard Terra called Earth. Sarah wants to speak to Apollo alone; she wants him to stay. She doesn’t love Michael and her father needed help, so she’s only with Michael out of necessity. It sounds like she may want to ensure Apollo stays.

It turns out that there is an empty city on the planet, all the people killed during the war. The Eastern Alliance destroyer is incoming as well, though its commander has no idea as to what the Galactica is.
