“Star-Crossed” is episode twenty of season one of Andromeda.
The Andromeda Ascendant responds to a distress call from a ship that is being attacked by the Resters (the ecoterrorists who want to preserve natural environments by stopping space travel). They fail to stop the attack, and the ship is destroyed, but an escape pod is rescued. Inside the pod is the sole survivor, who turns out to be an android, just like Rommie, the embodiment of the Andromeda Ascendant.
Rommie falls for the rescued android, which results in an interesting three-way argument with herself, as the embodied Rommie, a holographic representation of Andromeda and a screen version all argue. The first sign of insanity, arguing with yourself?
Her new love is not what he seems, though, and is working with the Resters. He’s also Michael Shanks, probably best known for the role of Dr Daniel Jackson in Stargate SG-1 (and SGA and SGU), which the actress Lexa Doig joined late in its tun. And, in real life, her future husband following this meeting.
