“An Affirming Flame” is episode two of season one of Andromeda.
In the previous episode, “Under the Night”, the Andromeda Ascendant had been salvaged from the black hole by some people working for a rather unscrupulous individual. The latter has brought a team of mercenaries to help him take the ship, who are led by a Nietzschean – the people who caused the end of the Systems Commonwealth.
The salvage crew begin to wonder if they are working for the wrong people, as they find Captain Hunt to be more admirable. Their employer isn’t willing to negotiate though.
Captain Hunt seems very unwilling to kill anyone, even those trying to kill him. How very TNG.
