“It’s Only the Beginning” is episode four of season one of the new V.
Erica finds an injured Georgie in a parking structure. Then Ryan runs at her with a gun and shoots.
14 hours earlier. At the end of the previous episode, “A Bright New Day”, Jack, Erica, Ryan and Georgie are in the church, talking. Ryan isn’t being as forthcoming as he could be; Georgie wants to find a V and cut them open to show the world what they are. Ryan says that the Vs would have to retaliate. A war they cannot win. Erica pushes Ryan, but Georgie vouches for him. After the meeting, Georgie wants to know Ryan didn’t say he was a V. Ryan is angry about the talk of skinning a Visitor.
On the mothership, Anna tasks Joshua with finding out who killed Dale. Which is Joshua.
Erica is at home trying to find details on Ryan when Tyler asks to talk. He ends up turning on the television, which has a news programme about a V medicine that can heal. Valerie is also listening; she tells Ryan she wants to get her meds changed.
Tyler again speaks to Erica, wanting to talk about Lisa. When her phone rings, he goes away. It’s Ryan; they need to meet. Ryan explains to the other three that the new medical injection Anna is advertising is bad. There was a programme he knew of, a group of V scientists. He knows the names, but all are dead apart from a low-level lab assistant, Peter Combs. Who is now a professor of chemistry. They will follow him.
Tyler is speaking to his therapist. Valerie. He talks about his mother and Valerie mentions she wants to go to a healing centre. Anna and Lisa are watching from the mothership. Lisa thinks Tyler is ready and Anna wants to meet him.
Chad is essentially being forced to do an article on the healing centres, but is impressed despite himself.
Jack and Erica are outside the parking structure, waiting for Combs. Georgie and Ryan are inside.
Joshua tells Anna that he can’t find anyone on his staff who can shed light on the murder. She wants everyone assembled. Afterwards, it sounds like Joshua’s assistant is also Fifth Column and is willing to sacrifice himself for Joshua.
Georgie confronts Combs and starts to shoot him as he wants to skin the V. Combs shoots back. Ryan shoots Combs as he’s about to shoot Erica. Jack arrives in the car and Georgie claims Combs opened fire. Ryan tries speaking to Combs, who calls him a traitor then swallows a suicide pill that turns him to ash. Erica heard that and points her gun at Ryan. He says that everything he told her was true and they are on the same side. As for being a Visitor, he never claimed he wasn’t.
Ryan ends up telling the truth and Anna is bringing Tyler closer into the fold. The medical centres are also luring people in.
