“The Psychobombs” is episode twelve of season one of UFO.
SHADO has lost a UFO and Straker wants it found. The UFO lands and affects a woman driving a car, a man in bed and another walking his dog. They all head to the UFO in a trance.
The woman returns to her car, snapping out of the trance, and is about to set off when a motorcycle cop stops her from doing so. She drives off, but he catches up with her, and she kills him.
Straker is on the way in and the dog walker and woman watch him pass from her car. The third is in the road; he tells Straker his car has broken down and asks for a lift. Straker agrees, but takes a picture of the man. The man, Daniel Clark, chats to Straker, then when Straker stops to drop him off, attacks him. SHADO Control gets alerted and Foster heads out, finding Straker coming around.
Dr Jackson examines Straker and Foster reports that Clark is just who he said he was, and completely average. Jackson suggests how Clark might be unusually strong.
In his office, Straker hands Foster a letter. He tells Foster and Lake that the Fairfield Tracker Station, Skydiver 3, Straker and SHADO Control will be destroyed unless SHADO essentially surrenders. He thinks Clark slipped the letter into his coat, and orders an alert.
All three are heading to Fairfield; Clark breaks through the perimeter fence and an alert is sounded. He waits as two guards take him in and he’s questioned. Clark doesn’t seem to know how he got where he is. He’s being taken away to be locked up when he breaks free of the guards, and grabs a high-power electricity cable, and Fairfield explodes.
Straker, Foster, Lake and Captain Lauritzen listen to the recording from Fairfield. They try to work out what caused the explosion, as nothing at the station could have done it and Clark had nothing on him. Lauritzen is dispatched to Skydiver 3.
They don’t know it, but there are two others left, each of whom has the potential to explode with immense force under the right conditions. And, until the UFO activates them, they have no clue anything is going on.
