“Sitting Ducks” is episode twelve of season one of The Tomorrow People.
At the end of the previous episode, “Rumble”, one of Stephen’s fellow Ultra trainees, Hillary, saw him use his powers in the presence of his friend Astrid – something that is prohibited. Hillary already believes that Stephen is getting an easy pass, because he’s Jedikiah’s nephew (she doesn’t know Uncle Jed that well), and so shops on him, putting Astrid in danger. Ultra really doesn’t want regular people to find out about the Tomorrow People – and is willing to back this up quite lethally.
Stephen himself is going on a camping trip with his mother, brother and his mother’s boyfriend.
The episode starts partway through the story, before going back 48 hours. I’m never certain I like it when programmes, or films, do that.
Stephen continues to behave in a rather immature way, making assumptions and acting on them without taking care.
There’s also a glimpse of a Windows 8 laptop. Frequently, when you see a laptop on television, or in films, it’s an Apple one. Apple probably spend more on product placement than other manufacturers because their glowing logo is readily identifiable from the back. This time, we saw the monitor.
