“Stealing Fire” is episode nine of season three of The 100.
In the previous episode, “Terms and Conditions”, Kane’s plan to turn Pike over to the Grounders failed – mostly because he didn’t want to kill anyone else. Pike now plans to have Kane executed for treason – which may have started doubts to crop up in Bellamy’s mind, for Kane had told him that Pike would have him, Kane, killed. Monty also seems uncertain about things; Arkadia as a whole is starting to fall apart.
Jasper helped Raven steal the chip maker needed to spread Alie’s influence; in the process he caused doubts in Raven’s mind too, as she realised that Alie was making her forget things – namely Finn. Alie is unable to fix this, as apparently allowing free will is a core part of her programming. Pity not nuking the planet into the iron age wasn’t. Nothing from them this episode.
In “Thirteen” Lexa was killed – by accident – so a new Commander needs to be chosen from the Nightbleeders by A.L.I.E. 2.0., the Spirit of the Commander – the Flame. There was nothing about this in the previous episode, which focussed on Arkadia, but this episode starts in the Grounder’s capital, where Clarke and Murphy are in Lexa’s former quarters as, by the sounds of it, the Conclave to choose the new Commander is starting. Clarke wants to ensure that Aiden wins. Titus, who is feeling justifiably guilty, opens the door and gives them both robes so that they can leave. Clarke wants to see Aiden first, because he promised to support Skaikru. Apparently, all the children who could be chosen will, as Lexa wanted it. Not everyone feels the same way – one of the competitors is Ontari from the Ice Nation and would really like to kill everyone in Skaicru. And she decides to improve her odds by killing the competition. Ontari killed all the children whilst they were asleep, leaving her the only apparent choice. Clarke is really not happy about this, and decides to take matters into her own hands.
In Arkadia, Pike has sentenced all the people locked up to death, saying that they are all guilty of the same crimes as Kane. Lincoln argues that his people aren’t guilty, and Bellamy agrees. So Pike decides to just execute Lincoln, Sinclair and Kane. Bellamy – who definitely has doubts – shows up at the room where Kane’s compatriots are, along with Monty. He shows them they are bugged, and Monty puts the bug into a signal blocker. Bellamy wants to help free those sentenced to death; the others are not very trusting. Bellamy asks them to pass a message on to Octavia who does meet with him. Although she drugs him. No-one really trusts Bellamy. This is not a surprise.
Events are getting out of hand in both places as bloodthirsty maniacs are taking increasing amounts of power.
