“All Is Lost” is episode thirteen of season two of Superman and Lois.
Five years ago, and Lucy meets Ally Alston for the first time at a book signing. They talk, and Ally tells Lucy she’s more than Lois Lane’s sister.
In the present, some of Ally’s followers are leaving, convinced she isn’t coming back. Lucy is one who is convinced she is.
Clark returns home to say he’s not seen any sign of Ally. There’s only one way of checking to see if she’s in the inverse world. Lois doesn’t want him leaving for a month again. She’s going to try and track Lucy down and Clark needs to speak to the boys about Lana. Unfortunately, Lana thinks that’s what’s best for her family is staying away from Clark’s.
Natalie and John Henry are talking about Ally and how his suit stood up to her. But she seemed to be draining the life force form Superman and Tal-Rho. He needs to figure it out. Natalie can help by bringing back a breakfast burrito. When she’s gone, John Henry’s AI is on the fritz so he asks Hetty to bring up the most recent suit file. Hetty asks him which suit.
Sarah is watching her performance at the bar in the previous episode, “Lies That Bind”, on her phone. Lana is impressed. She’s less impressed to find out where it was.
Clark is speaking to Jonathan and Jordan about the Cushings and keeping clear of them for now. They aren’t happy. Clark says that Lana now has to lie every day to keep their secret and she’s not wrong to not want Sarah to have to do the same. They need to respect Lana’s wishes. On the bright side, Clark has a full day of chores planned.
Chrissy and Lois are at the Gazette. Chrissy brings up the fact that Lois told Lana Clark was away on an assignment for the Gazette. Lois claims Clark wants to be considered for a job, but not to get it because of his wife. Sam arrives; they have a hit on Sergeant Wu. She’s been tracked to a lodge. The DoD isn’t going in first because Sam doesn’t want people with guns going where his daughter is. Just him and Lois. Chrissy says and her too, and Sam reluctantly agrees.
Bizarro Sam and Lois are watching a broadcast by the merged Ally. She claims they will soon all be gods. All that’s needed to do is merge the worlds.
John Henry isn’t happy with Natalie when she returns. He doesn’t want her strapping on a suit and putting herself in danger. Natalie points out she almost died without one. He wants her alive and wants to know whether she will take the suit apart or whether he will. Natalie builds things; she doesn’t destroy them.
At the lodge, Sam tells Chrissy to stay in the car as a lookout. Lois tells Chrissy she’s surprised Sam brought her this far. Give them an hour, and if it looks like trouble, call the DoD.
Inside the lodge, Lucy doesn’t believe Ally killed Anderson or that Superman destroyed the pendant. Or that Ally is a parasite who drains people of energy. She has total faith in Ally, and will wait as long as it takes. So, Sam handcuffs himself to Lucy.
Clark talks to Jonathan in the barn, about Jonathan and his Bizarro self. Anyone makes bad decisions; it’s what you do afterwards that counts. He was never mad at Jonathan. As a parent, you care so much, but have to let your kids make their own mistakes. Which is really hard. Clark will always be there for him, and reassures Jonathan he still has a future. And he should check on Jordan.
Jordan, meanwhile, has gone to see Lana. Who ends up telling him if he really loves Sarah, and wants to protect her, he should stay away.
Sam tells Lucy he hasn’t brought the handcuff key with him. She still has total, and misguided, faith in Ally, believing she’ll never hurt Lucy and loves Lucy like her own family doesn’t. Which is pretty wrong.
Ally has an alternate plan to merge everyone, that doesn’t use the pendant, and John Henry discovers Natalie has built her suit rather well.
