“Watergate” is episode seven of season four of Stargate SG-1.
SG-1 are leaving on a mission, but the stargate won’t activate because the seventh chevron will not engage. The problem is identical to that which happened when a second gate is activated, and the results show that it happened in Siberia. It appears Russia has a stargate. It’s the one that was on Thor’s ship when said ship was destroyed in “Nemesis” recovered from the bottom of the ocean.
The Russians have unfortunately managed to get the gate stuck open. Something that’s believed to be impossible. And the Russians know a lot about the SGC. They also have a DHD, the one from Giza (which wasn’t with the gate itself when it was found). I wonder why the SGC never used the one recovered in Antarctica?
SG-1 go to the Russian base, but all contact with the base has been lost, and the personnel are dead.
Marina Sirtis, probably best known for her role as Counselor Deanna Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation, guest stars.
With a bit of effort, this could have been a really creepy episode, with an empty base full of the dead. Ripe for some serious technohorror. A missed opportunity there.
