“Prototype” is episode nine of season nine of Stargate SG-1.
Sam leads a team to a planet to look at a black hole to check it for the presence of an Ori supergate, but something goes wrong. Sam and her team end up on a destination planet that isn’t the one they dialled, the one the MALP went to, but one 12,000 light years away. General Landry halts gate travel whilst it’s investigated.
It seems that the target planet sends people with the wrong security code, or who don’t enter it, to another planet. Sam now has to try and crack the code. Which, of course, she does. Rather too easily really.
Whilst Carter looks for the black hole, the rest stumble across a lab with some of Nirrti’s equipment in it. There is also a man in a stasis chamber whom Mitchell accidentally revives. The lab was actually run by Anubis, and the man has Goa’uld DNA – Anubis’s. Daniel thinks the man should be killed, as he’s potentially too dangerous to live.
Anubis was trying to artificially induce Ascension by creating a superior being. However, Mr Wolsey arrives and says the committee wants to study the man. Things end up going wrong. No surprise there.
