“Lost City: Part 2” is episode twenty two of season seven of Stargate SG-1 and the season finale.
In the previous episode, “Lost City: Part 1”, Dr Weir had replaced General Hammond as head of the SGC, which had also been shut down for three months. Unfortunately, Anubis has launched a fleet against Earth which is only three days away.
Colonel O’Neill had used an Ancient repository again in an attempt to find the location of the Lost City, a process which will quickly kill him, whilst the Vice President, the pain in the neck former Senator Kinsey, is less than happy with Dr Weir, as she has shown herself to be reluctant to do what he thinks is ‘necessary’ – in other words, doing exactly what he wants, no matter what it might cost everyone but him. Not the puppet he was after when he asked her to take on the role. Teal’c has returned to Chulak with Bra’tac to see what forces they can raise.
O’Neill has come up with the gate address, but it’s one they tried that didn’t work. So, Sam thinks she can calculate the location, at which point they will need to take a ship to get there. The planet’s star is a red giant, which is not good, and its surface is molten. Also not good, at least for strolling around on.
The actual location of the Lost City is in a rather unexpected place. Mind you, it is called Atlantis.
Things get really desperate before they get better, of course. Still a bit of a cliffhanger ending.
This episode features a cameo by General John P. Jumper, then-Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force, the second episode to feature the occupant of that position after his predecessor, Michael E. Ryan, appeared in “Prodigy”.
