“Business as Usual” is episode eighteen of season five of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Quark is out of money, and he has used his bar as collateral – with several different people. So they are unlikely to be happy with him when they find out there isn’t enough money – probably fatally unhappy.
Quark’s cousin Gaila, who Quark had loaned money to start an arms business, and who repaid Quark with a ship – that was booby trapped – in “Little Green Men”, comes to the station to offer Quark a deal.
Gaila is willing to ignore the Ferengi Commerce Authority ban, which bans any other Ferengi from doing business with Quark. Gaila wants Quark to help him sell weapons. Not directly, as Odo will probably find out that Quark is dealing arms on DS9, but as a front man, to deal with the customers. Quark’s holosuites will be used to make replicas of the weapons they are going to sell, which will get around the local laws, and Starfleet. Soon, the money is pouring in.
The Bajorans owe Gaila and his partner, Hagath, for supplying weapons to the Resistance, which puts the arms business beyond the reach of DS9 for now. But not Quark’s bar. Hagath is also a dangerous person to do business with, and Quark isn’t really keen on the arms business, and gets qualms.
Keiko is away and Miles is having problems with Yoshi. Every time the Chief puts the baby down, he starts crying, and no-one on the station seems able to stop him – other than Chief O’Brien.
