“Uprising” is episode two of season four of Sanctuary.
In the previous episode, “Tempus”, Magnus managed to stop Adam Worth – by turning him into a pile of dust. During the fight, Worth managed to kill his own daughter, who he had gone back in time to save. The Worth from that time found his daughter, dead, and still seemed to blame Magnus for it, and fracture his mind. Which means he will still have a grudge and likely still go back into time, preserving the order of what happened. Magnus was going to kill herself so that she didn’t affect the timeline negatively but Watson suggested that she instead travel back to the future. The slow way – a day at a time. Normal living in other words, but somewhere out of the way.
In the present, Magnus is still missing following the events of “Into the Black”, the Abnormals are still invading the surface world from Hollow Earth at Worth’s instigation and Will is serving as the head of the Sanctuary. Both Kate and Bigfoot are trapped in the camp with Thelo stating that he is going to start killing hostages. General Villanova of the Lotus Defense Corps is having his forces assault the camp and Thelo rushes into a tent. Which promptly explodes.
Will is trying to get Villanova – who attacked well before the deadline, because Will had been negotiating with Dr. Lee – to pull back, as people on both sides are dying, but the general is having none of it. Declan contacts the Sanctuary with news that Praxis has been destroyed – something only Druitt and Magnus knew up until now, although he says it’s been vaporised, which suggests that the destruction is more complete than what was seen before.
At the camp, Villanova’s forces are pushed out by the Abnormals. Will still wants to talk, because the riot happened after Thelo caught Will standing over Fallon’s dead body. Villanova also wants to start an attack on the Abnormals arriving from the calderas, and Lee tells him to proceed. No-one is interested in listening to Will and Thelo is dead. So, who killed him and to what aim? There also isn’t anyone in charge in the camp now – and Will gets appointed as acting head of the Sanctuary Network by the other heads of house.
Kate’s friend Garris is taking a bit of a leadership role in the camp. The occupants are not happy when they discover that Praxis has been destroyed. Events seem to be rapidly spiralling out of control – as Kate points out and Villanova is planning a pre-emptive ‘defensive’ strike.
Magnus has not reappeared and Will reaches out to Abby for help. Will and the others don’t know who’s setting things up, as they don’t know that Worth is dead yet, but there would appear to be another player in the mix.
