“The Five” is episode seven of season one of Sanctuary.
Dr. Magnus is in Rome giving a lecture on Abnormals when she is given a note saying that she will die in the next few minutes. The man who wrote the note is Nikola Tesla who is very much alive – Magnus helped fake his death – and the people who are going to kill her are the Cabal encountered in “Fata Morgana”. Magnus has a long history with Tesla, dating back to her Oxford days in the nineteenth century. Tesla himself is part vampire.
John Druitt, who it seems Magnus didn’t manage to kill in “Sanctuary for All: Part 2”, kidnaps Ashley to have a chat with her. She doesn’t, as yet, know that Druitt is her father. He states that Magnus is in danger, and that he needs Ashley’s help in rescuing her. Druitt discusses the five of the episode’s title. They were five people at Oxford in the nineteenth century. Druitt and Magnus were two of them, and Tesla was a third. There were two other members of the group, and their experimentation gave them powers, all different, such as Druitt’s ability to teleport.
Back at the Sanctuary itself, Will (who is nominally in charge, but no-one is really paying attention to him), Henry and Bigfoot have to deal with a problem that is damaging various parts of the building, as well as attacking residents. Will becomes suspicious of Henry, and thinks he’s keeping something back.
More is revealed about Dr. Magnus’ history.
