“One Night” is episode thirteen of season three of Sanctuary.
Will is on a date with Abby Corrigan, the FBI agent he met – or re-met; they went to Quantico together, even if he didn’t remember her – in “Vigilante”. He’s taking her to a very good restaurant. They then get mugged at gunpoint by three men – only it’s not a mugging. Both have hoods put over their heads and are then abducted. It’s not a random kidnapping either. They know exactly who Will is, and the current leader, a woman called Sioux, wants Will to save a man, the gang’s leader.
The man has got quills stuck in his leg and he seems unconscious, and he needs special treatment, according to Sioux. Sanctuary treatment. Only neither Will nor Abby are medical doctors. Magnus is, but she’s out of town with Henry. If they don’t save the man, they will both be killed.
The quills are from an Abnormal and are poisoned. Will recognises which Abnormal they are from, one that has a tendency to stick needles into things that annoy it, and the man will die in a few hours. Sioux is not willing to allow the man to be taken to the Sanctuary to be operated on. Even though that’s what he clearly needs. This is certainly not going to be easy.
The gang has brought the equipment that they think Will needs. Which is highly unlikely; it’s not their area of speciality. An area which Abby has recognised from a tattoo – the people who abducted them belong to a loose affiliation of contract killers. So, not nice people and, should Will manage to save the man’s life, probably not that likely to let him and Abby go.
Will has some pre-med training but not really enough for this sort of thing. Sioux has not been willing to share information but, after Will accidentally, and briefly, kills the man, she has to come clean. The man is an Abnormal, one that looks identical to a normal human, and Sioux did not think it was important. It was. The others in the gang don’t know this, as they wouldn’t follow the man in this case.
At the Sanctuary, Kate gets a call from the restaurant saying that Will and Abby didn’t turn up. Despite Kate’s suggestions as to a reason why, Bigfoot says that the food is too good, even for that. Abby thinks, and Will agrees, that something is not right. As ways to save your boss go, kidnapping Will, who isn’t a surgeon, is a pretty poor choice. Something is clearly up.
