“Nothing Personal” is episode twenty of season one of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
In the previous episode, “The Only Light in the Darkness”, Skye had discovered that Ward was an agent of HYDRA. The rest of the team had not found this out and, because Skye was alone with Ward, she had to pretend that she, too, didn’t know he was a mole and went with him with the encrypted hard drive.
In this episode, the rest of the team discovers that Ward is a traitor – but it does seem he might end up being a slightly conflicted one. Could he leave the Dark Side? Either way, the betrayal comes as a significant shock. S.H.I.E.L.D. had really been compromised by HYDRA, before the latter revealed themselves.
Former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill, last seen in The Winter Soldier, makes as an appearance in this episode.
