“Beginning of the End” is episode twenty-two of season one of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the season finale.
In the previous episode, “Ragtag”, Ward had ejected Fitz and Simmons from the bus into the ocean inside a pod, and Garrett had taken the experimental drug developed by Raina, after which he started acting rather oddly.
Coulson and the rest of the team are tracking Garrett down with the aim of taking him out – permanently, and Garrett is acting still more oddly.

Now, I know that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn’t been as well received by comic book fans as it could have been, but I enjoyed the series. This episode doesn’t wrap everything up, and there are new things left to do, but it’s not a cliffhanger ending. Cliffhanger endings are rarer than they used to be – probably because a few too many series have been cancelled and left hanging. It looks like it’s been commissioned for a second season too.
