“Unaccompanied Minors” is episode eleven of season two of Manifest.
Ben is talking to Michaela about what Adrian said in the previous episode, “Course Deviation”, about false prophets. Michaela thought he’s got over that months ago when Grace and the baby were saved. Ben explains that since then Cal has been terrorised by three dark shadows almost every night. And what Adrian said has parallels in the Bible. Revelations. Ben also asks about Zeke.
Zeke is at a meeting and talks about the anniversary of his sister’s death, and how that death started him on drugs, and how dying makes the steps seem a bit pointless. He’s told that perhaps he should stop asking for forgiveness, but forgive others. For closure.
Michaela is talking to the voice she hears, saying she has done everything asked and now the man she loves is freezing to death. How is she supposed to listen if that happens?
Michaela is walking past a shop when a boy runs out who’s apparently stolen something. She catches him and he says he just took a candy bar. She’s told to let him go, and she does; he gets on a bus. However, on heading to the shop, it seems he stole cold medicine. Which is used to make meth. And this wasn’t the only place hit. She speaks to Jared at the precinct about it; Jared thinks it might mean there’s a bigger operation. Michaela says maybe she let him go to catch a bigger fish. Jared offers to help. Unless Michaela wants to explain the callings to Drea.
Grace is singing to Eden a song she heard from Cal when Ben has a calling about an oncoming train. He says it felt different. As if he was about to die. Elsewhere, TJ and Cal are talking when TJ has a calling about an image of a bird. They tell Ben and Grace, and that it looked like a phoenix. Ben wonders if it was a dragon, to connect to the Bible, but Grace suggests maybe a subway mural after TJ explains. There is one that matches.
Saanvi is checking Zeke out and he mentions the meeting. She says she’s still fine-tuning the formula.
Jared and Michaela head to the bus depot. The bus driver doesn’t remember the passenger, but the bus has security cameras, so they can check the footage.
TJ and Ben are heading to the subway station; TJ wonders if the shadows are another warning. A man in front of them drops a matchbox and TJ returns it. On the platform, they then see the man holding it and preparing himself. They tackle him before he can leap in front of the train.
Zeke hasn’t told his mother the full story about his illness and it isn’t being cured, only slowed. And there may be more to the meth making than there appears.
