“Fasten Your Seatbelts” is episode one of season two of Manifest.
The episode opens back on the plane, and they hit the turbulence. However, it goes into a nose dive and Michaela says it didn’t happen this way. She’s actually lying on the floor of her apartment. When she arrived in the season one finale, “Estimated Time of Departure”, Zeke and Jared were fighting over the gun. She’s been hit and Zeke is pressing on her wound as Jared calls it in. Michaela tells Zeke to run.
The rest of the family arrive at the hospital and Jared fills them in on how the gun went off as he pulled it away. Saanvi approaches; the surgery went well and it sounds like Michaela will make a full recovery. She can sneak Ben into see Michaela. Michaela doesn’t want to see Jared.
Michaela tells Ben she doesn’t want Zeke found and that she had a vision of the plane crashing. Ben thinks that it’s about them dying and explains that what happened to Griffin will happen to them. Michaela says it wasn’t a normal calling and asks if anyone else had it. Call appears; he did. He was about to say something in the calling, and that was to save the passengers.
Two months later and Ben arrives at a rundown house. It’s the home of one of the passengers and he asks whether the man is hearing and seeing things. He is.
Ben is eating lunch with Saanvi at the hospital. She’s concerned he could have been killed. Ben thinks they need to track the passengers down. Grace arrives; she thinks they should talk about something more positive. Her pregnancy. During the ultrasound, Ben discovers that Grace had been pregnant whilst he was missing, but miscarried. She doesn’t want to tell Danny anything until after the baby is born. When they get home, Michaela is out of hospital, her first day home, and they tell everyone about the pregnancy.
Saanvi is undergoing therapy. With the major. Who thinks Saanvi is attracted to Ben and is interested to hear about the pregnancy.
Ben has picked some stuff up from Michaela’s apartment. He’s trying to track the passengers down, but some are fleeing. Michaela has a postcard from Zeke, saying he kept running. It’s from Canada. Michaela wants to clear his name so he can be told about his death date.
At the precinct, there’s a new captain and she’s not interested in Michaela trying to claim Zeke is innocent. The waters have been muddy, which is why she’s been called in. Michaela walks past Jared, who speaks to her. She says that if he hadn’t obsessed over Zeke, she wouldn’t have ended up with a bullet in her stomach. Michaela sees the missing people board; two people are passengers and things start shaking. For her and for Cal.
Michaela tells Ben; the Vasiks’ children weren’t on the plane. He spoke to Anton on it. The kids were left with a neighbour. For 5 1/2 years.
Michaela has had it with Jared. She and Ben are trying to track down the Vasiks. And Ben gets a surprise.
