“Estimated Time of Departure” is episode sixteen of season one of Manifest and the season finale.
The episode opens in Jamaica in the past just before they leave. In the present, Ben is looking at a photo from then. The news is talking about how Griffin stopped a bomb in Times Square in the previous episode, “Hard Landing”. Ben, Grace and Olive are worried, then they hear a crash. Cal is throwing things.
Zeke arrives at a shop and buys a bottle of bourbon.
Jared has Zeke’s record, which he shows to Michaela. He says he’s worried Zeke could hurt her and asks if there’s anything going on between them. Griffin smiles on the way out and Michaela follows, telling him that’s not what the callings are for. Griffin tells her if she follows him, it’s harassment, and pointless as he apparently has superpowers. As he drives off in a taxi, Michael, Ben, Saanvi and Zeke all hear ‘Stop him.’
Ben and Michaela speak to Saanvi, who asks what if the only way to stop Griffin is to do so permanently. Ben thinks Cal knows something, but he’ll only talk to Zeke.
Zeke is at Michaela’s when she returns; he hides the unopened bottle. They talk about Griffin and how Ben wants to see Zeke. And Zeke mentions his mother wouldn’t let him in. He doesn’t think everyone deserves Michaela’s compassion. The assault charge on his record is mentioned; he was drunk and objected to how someone was treating his girlfriend. Zeke broke their jaw. He’s in her apartment so Michaela has a right to know. Michaela tells him that’s not who he is now.
Saanvi is approached by a lab tech. He’s found the unusual marker in Griffin’s blood, and discovered that it’s in Cal’s as well. He wants to write an article. Saanvi leaves and has a panic attack, which a doctor she’s seen before notices and talks her down, before recommending the therapist he saw for his own anxiety.
Zeke speaks to Cal and gets him to show him the latest drawing. Which is of gravestones for Cal, Ben and Michaela.
Zeke goes downstairs and tells Ben and Michaela that Cal is worried something will happen to them. Michaela wonders what Griffin will do. Grace tells him Griffin is going to appear on a programme. He may end up revealing the callings to everyone. Which will be bad for them all. Michaela wants them to speak to Griffin before he goes on the air, but Zeke says someone like Griffin only understands brute force.
Jared is being really paranoid about Zeke and has him followed, which results in Jared leaping to the wrong conclusion. Grace and Olive are feeling a bit left out. And Jared’s concerns lead to a cliff-hanger ending leading into season two and “Fasten Your Seatbelts”.
