“The New Arrival” is episode four of season one of La Brea.
It’s night and Josh and Scott are looking at the stars when Riley joins them. She winds them up about the heroin but Scott buried in the woods. He’s sure that whoever it belonged to either isn’t with them or dead. However, Lucas has just looked for them and blames his mother.
Sam joins Eve and they are chatting when they hear a sound from the portal. In the previous episode, “The Hunt”, Levi’s plane had gone through but crashed, and they see the plane come out.
In the morning, they plan to look for the plane. Sam suggests a small group, no more than five. Lucas volunteers as does Eve. Josh is going with and he suggests Scott as being knowledgeable on animals. Sam says Riley should go, in case the pilot is injured.
Riley is speaking to Lucas and Scott is being paranoid about Lucas. They find Levi’s chute, but he’s not in it. They hear a growl and gunshots, then Levi joins them. He thinks he just shot a sabretooth. Levi explains he was sent to bring them home, but he’s not sure if he can and they won’t be sending anyone else. He needs to find the plane to see if it can fly, but he’s got no signal from the homing beacon and got turned around. Eve says they were heading in that direction. Levi may be able to fix the plane and fly home.
Gavin is watching the news about an explosion in the sinkhole when there’s an earthquake. He joins Izzy then Jessica joins them. She gets an earthquake alert; the epicentre was near the sinkhole.
Gavin heads to speak to Dr Nathan, and has a vision of Levi meeting the others. Nathan’s office is empty and he starts reading a file with his name, then Markman enters. Nathan is being blamed for what happened. Gavin says Levi is alive; Markman says another mission won’t be sent because they can’t risk causing another earthquake. Gavin swipes the file on his way out.
Levi pauses and reveals he has a cut on his arm. Riley treats it and Scott tells Josh that the heroin belongs to Lucas. And he was stoned when he buried it, so doesn’t know where it is. After being treated, Levi picks up a signal from the plane.
Ty and Eddie return with rabbits; Eddie leaves them with Ty to clean. Ty has no idea how. Eddie heads to a shelter, then hears a noise.
Veronica is telling Lily she can’t talk to anyone; those are the rules. Lily says those were their father’s rules and he’s dead. Veronica ends up slapping her and Lily runs into the forest. She sees someone, then trips and finds Eddie’s body, with very pronounced veins.
One group is heading for the plane, with a very paranoid Scott, whilst the rest are worried there’s a killer around. And Gavin is trying to find out what’s going on.
